After its outstanding race through the field last time out at Silverstone, finishing just off the podium, Strakka Racing will return to Blancpain GT Series Endurance Cup action on Saturday 1 June when its #43 Mercedes-AMG GT3 will compete in the 1000km of Paul Ricard.
For the third time this season Dev Gore and Lewis Williamson will undertake driving duties for the British squad. Joining them for the event is Italian David Fumanelli, who makes his first outing for Strakka in 2019 at the French round. Fumanelli, along with Williamson, achieved Strakka’s first Spa 24h podium last year when the duo, together with Nick Leventis and Chris Buncombe, finished second at the iconic endurance event. He was also part of the trio that took the team’s first victory with Mercedes at the season finale at Laguna Seca.
Gore, Williamson and Fumanelli will now tackle the 1000km of Paul Ricard, the third race of the 2019 Endurance Cup season. Free practice will take place on Friday 31 May, with qualifying and the six hour race on Saturday 1 June.
Dev Gore: “I am excited for Paul Ricard, it’s a new track to me, with the pre-season test being the first time I have ever driven the track. It’s also the second longest race of the season where I will do more than one stint, so there is an added endurance element to the weekend. The team were very strong in the test but this will be a tougher race for us with the longer duration and night time driving. With that said, I think we have proved how well we can overcome adversity. I’m looking forward to us fighting at the front again!”
Jay Davenport, Strakka Racing Director: “As a team, the performance last time out at Silverstone was very strong and I was very proud of the team to come back from where we were to fight for a podium. We head to Paul Ricard with confidence and I’m looking forward to being right up there and battling for the podium again. We’re happy to welcome David back for this event, who has had some great success with us in the past and completes a strong driver line-up in our Mercedes-AMG GT3.”
The Blancpain GT Series Endurance Cup 1000km of Paul Ricard takes place from 18:00-00:00 local time on Saturday 1 June 2019.
