Strakka Racing claimed a podium finish at their home race at Silverstone, with the #42 car achieving second place in the PRO-AM class. The team also secured a top-ten result with the all-PRO #43 car ending the three-hour endurance race in eighth overall.
The trio of Nick Leventis, Lewis Williamson and Chris Buncombe piloted the PRO-AM #42 Mercedes-AMG GT3 at Silverstone, which marked the second round of the 2018 Blancpain GT Series Endurance Cup. Impeccable stints from all three drivers saw the crew take the lead in the PRO-AM Championship as the chequered flag fell.
Strakka also secured a top-ten result with the #43 PRO car comprising Maxi Buhk, Max Götz and David Fumanelli. After starting twelfth on the grid, the trio managed to work their way up the ranks amongst the front runners, finishing in eighth overall only 7 seconds from the podium.
Unfortunately, the fellow PRO #44 Mercedes, fronted by Oliver Rowland, Thomas Jäger and Adrien Tambay, had contact from another car less than an hour into the race which was soon followed by a tyre failure, setting the car back a few laps early on. Despite best efforts to regain positions, the #44 car finished the race in thirty-eighth place overall.
The Silverstone-based team are delighted to achieve another podium result at their home race. Strakka will be competing in the next round of the Blancpain GT Series Endurance Cup at Paul Ricard on the 1st-2nd June 2018.
Nick Leventis – Strakka Racing #42: “It’s a great feeling to finish P2 in the PRO-AM class at our home race at Silverstone. An unlucky pit-stop made it harder work, but we still came out with a great result. My team mates did an outstanding job over the weekend.”
Maximilian Buhk – Strakka Racing #43: “The race was tough, but we managed to finish in the top ten, we started out of position due to traffic issues in qualifying but I was able to move up to seventh place during my stint. There’s still some progress to be made with regards to the set up and the race, so we will do our utmost to come out on top at the next round in Paul Ricard.”
