Strakka Racing has confirmed it has signed Williams F1 young driver Oliver Rowland for the Silverstone round of the 2018 Blancpain GT Series Endurance Cup on 18th-20th May. The 25-year-old will pilot an all-PRO Mercedes-AMG GT3 alongside ex-DTM drivers Adrien Tambay and Thomas Jäger.
The trio will be joining teammates Götz, Buhk and Fumanelli in another all PRO car, whilst the PRO-AM entry will be led by Leventis, Williamson and Buncombe at the home race for the Silverstone-based team.
“I’m excited to be joining Strakka at Silverstone and look forward to get to know the Mercedes-AMG GT3 car. I’ll be pushing hard to achieve some great results for the team,” commented Rowland.
Strakka’s Racing Director Jay Davenport added, “We are delighted for Oliver to be joining us at our home race at Silverstone. His proven talent and experience on Formula One circuits will be a great addition to our line up, giving us a strong chance of running at the front.”
Unfortunately, Christian Vietoris is still unwell and has had to bow out of the Silverstone round of the Blancpain GT Series Endurance Cup. We would like to wish Christian a speedy recovery and welcome ex-DTM driver Thomas Jäger to the team.
