Strakka Racing will compete in next weekend’s Blancpain GT Series Endurance Cup season finale as Romain Monti, Max Koebolt and Esteban Muth line up in the #43 Mercedes-AMG GT3 at the Barcelona 3 Hours as a Silver Cup Entry.
Frenchman Romain Monti will race for the first time with Strakka at the Circuit de Catalunya and brings a wealth of GT experience to the team. A Silver Cup victory in the 2018 Total 24 Hours of Spa demonstrated his strength and he was also outright victor of the 2015 Trofeo Maserati. Race experience in the Blancpain GT Series, French GT and the Porsche Cup sees the 28-year-old well placed for battle next weekend.
Max Koebolt, the 21-year-old Dutchman, also brings GT experience to the team. The 2017 GT4 European Series Silver Cup victor also finished third overall in the 2018 European Series and was winner of three Dutch karting championships in his junior career. In 2019 he has recorded three race wins and five podiums in the GT4 European Series and finished second overall and looks to build on his success in Barcelona.
Belgian Kart Cup Champion Esteban Muth is on Strakka Racing’s Junior Driver Development Programme and will make his Blancpain GT Series debut in Spain. 17-year-old Muth began racing in karts at the age of four, winning several national karting championships and accolades. His debut year in single-seaters in 2018 saw him compete in the French F4 Championship, finishing on the podium seven times. He then made his mark on the Castrol Toyota Racing Series, taking one victory and three podiums on his way to finishing as the second highest rookie. Esteban also drove in the first round of Formula Renault Eurocup.
Jay Davenport, Strakka Racing Director: “We’ve got a great mix of youth and experience that, combined, we believe gives us strong prospects in the Silver Cup at Barcelona next weekend. It will be nice to return to the track where we clinched the Pro-Am Drivers Championship last year.”
The Blancpain GT Series Endurance Cup Barcelona 3 Hours takes place from 15:00-18:00 local time on Sunday 29 September 2019.
